The most complete API platform, highly collaborative, but heavy and pushy about its paid plans.

Postman is the go-to tool for working with APIs. It lets you send requests, inspect responses, chain together automated tests, and document an API, all in a single interface that replaced hand-rolled curl scripts.
It's used to build and run HTTP requests, group them into collections, write automated tests on responses, and generate shareable documentation. Postman also handles mock servers, API monitoring, and team collaboration. It integrates with GitHub and VS Code to stay in the development flow.
Compared to lighter competitors like Insomnia or Bruno, Postman wins on feature depth and collaboration, but it's also heavier and pushes its paid plans hard. Teams that just want to test requests sometimes find these alternatives more direct and more privacy-friendly.
The application has grown heavy and steers users toward a cloud account, which bothers teams that want to keep their data local. Free plan quotas (AI credits, monitoring requests) get used up fast under heavy use, and per-user billing climbs quickly for teams.
