AppFlowy is an open source alternative to Notion, backed by a large community. It brings together notes, wiki, tasks, and databases, with one major advantage: the ability to keep everything local or self-hosted, and to run local AI models for privacy.
What is AppFlowy used for?
You create rich pages, database-style tables, Kanban boards, and task tracking, much like similar tools. The difference is philosophical: the code is open, the app runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, and mobile, and you can run AI (summaries, writing) on your own machine with models like Mistral or Llama, without sending your data to a third party. It's the choice of users who care about privacy and control.
AppFlowy or Notion and Coda?
