The go-to open source alternative to Calendly: free for individuals, customizable, and self-hostable, a bit more demanding to learn than a minimalist tool.

Cal.com is an open source appointment scheduling platform, often described as the alternative to Calendly. It lets you share a booking link, sync your calendars, and let others pick a time slot, with the added ability to self-host it for full control.
You define your event types (duration, availability, buffer time between meetings), connect your calendars (Google, Outlook) to avoid double-bookings, and share a public link. Guests book on their own, get confirmations and reminders, and a video link (Cal Video, Google Meet, Zoom) is added automatically. Cal.com also handles form routing, payments (Stripe), and connects to a CRM. Webhooks and an API open the door to automation with tools like n8n.
Compared to Calendly, more mature and mainstream, Cal.com bets on open source, self-hosting, and deep customization. The free individual plan is generous (unlimited events). For a team focused on data sovereignty or wanting to reshape the tool, Cal.com has the edge; Calendly stays simpler for turnkey use.
Self-hosting requires technical skills and maintenance; the managed option avoids that but becomes paid for teams. The feature depth means a slightly longer learning curve than a minimalist tool.
