Resend is a modern email sending API, built by and for developers. Launched in 2023, it quickly gained traction thanks to a polished experience: clear documentation, clean SDKs, and native integration with React Email to compose emails as components.
What is Resend for?
You send transactional and marketing emails from your application through a simple API or SMTP. Resend handles domain authentication (SPF, DKIM), event webhooks, contact and audience management, and provides React Email, an open source library for building templates in JSX. Deliverability is solid and onboarding is fast, making it a favorite among modern technical teams and new projects.
Resend or SendGrid and Postmark?
Compared to SendGrid, older and heavier, Resend bets on simplicity and developer experience. Compared to Postmark, very solid on transactional email, it adds a more modern approach with React Email. For a recent project wanting a clean API with no friction, it's often the first choice; established players keep the edge on very large historical volumes.
What are the limits of Resend?
Younger than its competitors, it has a shorter deliverability track record at very large volumes. Marketing (audiences) is billed separately, per contact, and advanced features remain less developed than at established suites.
