What is Shopify for?

You build your store from themes, add your products, and Shopify handles the cart, payment (via Shopify Payments or third-party gateways), inventory, taxes, and shipping. A huge app store extends the platform for almost any need, and the ecosystem also covers selling on social media and in physical stores. It's a turnkey solution for selling fast and at scale.

Shopify or WordPress and Wix?

Compared to WooCommerce on WordPress, more flexible but more technical, or Wix, more general-purpose, Shopify is the most specialized platform for online selling and the most solid as volume grows. The trade-off is a cost that rises with apps and transaction fees.

What are Shopify's limits?

With no free plan, the real cost often exceeds the base subscription once paid apps are added and, if you don't use Shopify Payments, transaction fees. Deep customization requires learning the Liquid theme language.
