SaaS Radar Review
8/10

A modern, conversational customer service platform at the forefront of AI, whose price and per-resolution billing need modeling.

  • Polished conversational experience
  • Powerful Fin AI agent
  • High price

Intercom is a customer relationship platform centered on conversation, very popular with software vendors and scale-ups. It combines live messaging, a knowledge base, automation and, now, an AI agent (Fin) able to resolve part of the requests autonomously.

What is Intercom used for?

Intercom is used to talk to customers at the right moment: chat on the site and app, targeted messages, automated replies and AI-assisted support. It covers both support and engagement (onboarding, activation). It is a common choice for SaaS products, where Zendesk targets the structured support center more.

Intercom or an alternative?

Against Zendesk and Freshdesk, Intercom bets on the conversational experience and AI rather than the classic ticket. It is often more expensive, partly due to per-resolution AI billing, but appeals to modern product teams.

How much does Intercom cost?

Plans start around $39 per seat per month (Essential), then rise through Advanced and Expert. The Fin AI agent is billed extra, around $0.99 per resolution. There is no permanent free plan, only a trial.
