Qonto is an online business account built for freelancers and small and mid-sized businesses that want to separate banking from management. The French editor, based in Paris and licensed as a payment institution by the Banque de France (CIB 16958), provides a French IBAN and a layer of management features that traditional banks don't offer out of the box.

What is Qonto used for?

Beyond the account and cards, Qonto handles expense reports, multi-user access with permission levels, client invoicing, and export to accounting. The tool connects to Pennylane and Sellsy to extend pre-accounting and invoicing.

Qonto vs a traditional bank: what's the difference?

Qonto isn't a bank: funds are held with partner institutions, so there's no overdraft or bank credit. In exchange, expense management and pre-accounting are built in, where a traditional bank charges for these features separately. Compared to Shine, which is more focused on freelancers, Qonto scales up to businesses with several dozen users.

What are Qonto's limitations?

No overdraft or bank credit, business plans starting at €49/month excl. tax, above entry-level neobanks, and transfers beyond the plan's quota billed individually.
