A credible open-source alternative to Airtable for anyone who wants control over their data, provided you accept self-hosting or the limits of the free cloud plan.

NocoDB is an open-source alternative to Airtable that turns a database into a collaborative spreadsheet. Connect an existing database (MySQL, PostgreSQL) or start from scratch, and the tool exposes your data as grids, galleries, kanban boards, and forms, with no code required.

What is NocoDB for?

It manages structured data like a smart spreadsheet: project tracking, lightweight CRM, inventories, back offices. NocoDB also auto-generates REST APIs on every table, making it a foundation for building applications. Its main selling point: the code is open and self-hostable, so a technical team can keep everything on its own servers, with no row limits or per-seat billing.

NocoDB or Airtable and Glide?

Compared with Airtable, closed and cloud-hosted, NocoDB offers openness and control over your data. Compared with Glide, more focused on building finished apps, NocoDB stays centered on data and APIs. For self-hosted no-code on the document side, AppFlowy plays a similar role.

What are the limits of NocoDB?

Self-hosting requires technical skills and ongoing maintenance. The managed cloud version removes that constraint but caps the free plan (3 users, 50,000 rows). Its extension ecosystem is still younger than Airtable's.
