SaaS Radar Review
8/10

A no-code database platform with rare flexibility, a benchmark for structuring data, whose free plan and per-seat cost set clear limits.

  • Power of a relational database, simplicity of a spreadsheet
  • Multiple views (grid, kanban, calendar, gallery)
  • Free plan caps out fast (1,000 records)

Airtable is a platform that sits between a spreadsheet and a database. It has the familiarity of a spreadsheet but the power of a real relational database, with multiple views and automations, making it a no-code tool adopted by millions of teams.

What is Airtable used for?

You structure your data in tables linked to each other (projects, contacts, content, inventory), viewed as a grid, kanban board, calendar, or gallery depending on the need. Automations trigger actions (notifications, updates), extensions expand its capabilities, and the interface designer lets you build real applications on top of the base. Airtable serves as the backbone for varied workflows: editorial tracking, lightweight CRM, project management, product catalogs.

Airtable vs. Notion and Coda?

Compared to Notion, more geared toward documents and wikis, Airtable is stronger on structured, relational data. Compared to Coda, similar in spirit, it focuses on database logic rather than documents. Tools like Softr actually build on top of Airtable to turn it into applications. For real, connected data, Airtable is a benchmark; for writing, Notion wins out.

What are Airtable's limitations?

The free plan caps out fast (1,000 records per base), and the per-seat cost climbs for a large team. For very high volumes, a real database performs better, and data is hosted in the United States, worth considering for sensitive use cases.
