A suite still strong on listening and governance, but whose entry price no longer makes sense below a properly staffed marketing team.

Hootsuite is one of the pioneers of the sector, launched in 2008 from Vancouver. Long the default choice, it has repositioned itself around large organisations and left the freelance segment to far cheaper competitors.
Listening and approval workflows. Customisable streams let you monitor keywords, competitors and conversations across several networks in parallel. Multi-step approval workflows answer a real need in organisations where three people must sign off a post before it goes live, a common constraint in regulated sectors.
The €99 per user per month entry tier has drifted away from the rest of the market. For equivalent publishing and analytics features, Metricool asks €16 and Agorapulse €79 with a far better inbox. We no longer recommend Hootsuite below a properly staffed marketing team with a genuine need for listening and governance.
Larger companies, regulated sectors and multi-brand organisations that need SSO, custom roles and documented compliance. For every other profile the features-to-price ratio is unfavourable, as our guide to the best social media tool shows.
Standard costs €99 per user per month billed annually, for 10 social accounts. Professional rises to €199 and unlocks unlimited social accounts, automated inbox replies and custom reports. Advanced costs €399 and adds collaborative approvals and automatic message routing. An Enterprise tier on request covers SSO, advanced listening and compliance. There is a 14-day trial with no credit card.
