Todoist is one of the most popular task and project managers in the world, published by Doist, a fully distributed European company. It bets on simplicity and speed: adding a task takes a second, organizing it barely longer.

What is Todoist for?

You capture tasks in natural language ('pay the invoice every Monday' creates the recurrence on its own), sort them into projects, sections, and labels, and filter them by priority. List, board, and calendar views adapt to each project, and collaboration lets you share projects with a team. It's a productivity Swiss Army knife that grows with your needs.

Todoist vs Things and Motion?

Compared to Things, gorgeous but locked to the Apple ecosystem, Todoist has the advantage of being cross-platform (web, mobile, desktop, extensions). Compared to a Motion that auto-schedules your calendar, it stays task-focused, simpler and far cheaper. For task management without the overhead, it's hard to beat.

How much does Todoist cost?

The free plan (Beginner) is enough for many people: up to 5 personal projects. The Pro plan costs $5/month billed annually ($7 monthly) and unlocks 300 projects, calendar views, and filters. The Business plan at $8/user/month adds a shared team workspace. Prices rose slightly in late 2025.
