Clockify covers a wide scope for the price: timer, timesheets, kiosk mode for team clock-in, reports, billable rates, invoices, leave, capacity planning. It runs on web, iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and as a browser extension, and hooks into Jira, Asana, Trello, ClickUp or Notion. The interface is available in French.

One thing changed and much of the content online hasn't caught up: the free plan was cut back sharply in April 2026. It went from unlimited users to five, and lost CSV and Excel export, billable hours, shared reports and private projects. A team that settled on it years ago now has to pay.

For a French organization, the watch point is elsewhere. The vendor is American, and choosing your data region, including the European Union in Germany, is only available from the Pro plan up. Below that, data sits in the global region with no lever on your side. The monitoring features, screenshots and GPS tracking, also call for caution under French labour law.

Frequently asked questions about Clockify

Is the Clockify free plan still unlimited?▼

No, not since April 2026. It is now capped at five users and has lost CSV and Excel export, billable hours, shared reports and private projects. Many articles online still describe the old unlimited free plan.

Can data be hosted in Europe?▼

Yes, in Germany, but only from the Pro plan up, at $7.99 per user per month billed annually. Below that, and by default even on Pro if nobody changes the setting, data is stored in the global region.

Is Clockify available in French?▼

Yes. French is one of the interface languages, set in the profile settings. Note that this setting applies to the web app: the mobile and desktop apps follow the operating system language.

Can you monitor employees with Clockify?▼

Technically yes, the Pro plan offers screenshots, GPS tracking and kiosk photos. In France these features fall under labour law and the positions of the CNIL, the French data protection authority: employees must be informed, the measure must be proportionate, and staff representatives must be consulted. Do not switch them on without legal groundwork.
